YouTube Bans Dangerous Prank Videos

  • You won’t become a social media star by posting a dangerous prank video on YouTube. They won’t allow it anymore.
  • With the large number people uploading Birdbox Challenge videos where people tried to do risky things while blindfolded, YouTube took notice.
  • The service has updated guidelines to prohibit the posting of unsafe challenge or prank videos, like Birdbox and the Tide Pod challenges.
  • YouTube said, “we need to make sure what’s funny doesn’t cross the line into also being harmful or dangerous. We’ve made it clear that our policies prohibiting harmful and dangerous content also extend to pranks with a perceived danger of serious physical injury.”
  • Do you think it’s a good change? Do you spend hours watching different videos on YouTube?
