Even as Florida moves forward with reopening plans, families continue to struggle financially. For some, the pandemic is forcing them to make tough decisions like whether to pay bills or put food on the table.

The Fort Pierce Woman’s Club is stepping up to help ease that stress for families on the Treasure Coast.

Since 1913, the group’s been dedicated to giving back to the community year-round, but once the pandemic hit and schools closed, they said they knew they needed to do more.

So it launched a drive-through food distribution program at its headquarters in Fort Pierce.

Each week, Michele is joined by other club members like Vice President Jennifer Picardi and board member Jerry Koedyker. Together they prepare warm, home-cooked meals; from pancakes and pasta dishes to hot dogs, hamburgers and vegetable soups.

The drive-through food distribution is held every Monday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The address is 2408 South 29th Street, Fort Pierce, Florida 34981.
