Where to find free and discounted school supplies

According to the National Retail Federation, the average family is shelling out $890 to get the kids ready. So if you’re looking for some help, Rossen Reports has found ways to get school supplies on deep discount and for free:

  • eBay: Do a quick search on eBay for school supplies. We found bundles that include paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, highlighters, a ruler, scissors, etc. for as little as $19. You might even find a better deal.
  • Freecycle: It’s basically just a website where people give things away. All you have to do is make a free account and search for school supplies in your area.
  • Facebook Marketplace & Craigslist: Search for school supplies there too. Some neighbors may be giving things away for cheap or even for free.
  • Dollar Stores: Don’t forget to check places like Dollar Store, Dollar Tree, Five Below, etc.
  • Charitable Organizations: Many nonprofits hold drives around this time of the year. Check with your local chapter for resources near you.
