Florida saw a surge in early voting and voting by mail, with all eyes now turning toward Election Day.
As of numbers released by the Florida Secretary of State’s Office on Monday morning, 8,974,896 Floridians have cast their ballot either by mail or early. More than 4.6 million Floridians have voted by mail and 4.3 million voted early.
2,112,081 Democrats voted by mail, compared to 1,448,396 Republicans and 1,027,775 voters with No Party Affiliation. In early voting, 1,955,692 Republicans cast their ballot in person, compared to 1,400,130 Democrats and 905,873.
Democrats held their lead over Republicans in total early votes and mail votes case, but that lead narrowed to roughly 100,000 votes. Political analysts from both parties have cautioned that not every party affiliate will vote along party lines.
If you have not sent your mail ballot back or dropped it off, you can still vote in person on Election Day. That will cancel out your mail-in ballot.
There are roughly 1.3 million mail ballots that were requested but not returned. A ballot must be received by 7pm on Election Night to county in Florida, so Monday is too late to put your ballot in the mail. Ballots can still be dropped off at locations below, either in designated boxes in front of the buildings or handed to staff inside.
