BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Police are warning people about a phone scam making the rounds in West Palm Beach.

Police say the scammers are using a number that appears to be from the West Palm Beach Police Department.

The scammers, police say, are demanding money due to a criminal act.

Police are reminding people to never give personal information over the phone, and never send gift cards or money to anyone claiming to be from the West Palm Beach Police Department.
