Spotsylvania Sheriff Roger Harris said in a video statement before releasing 911 audio and body-camera footage of the incident that deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance report at about 3:20 a.m. on April 21 in the western part of Spotsylvania County. “During an encounter with an adult male, the deputy discharged his firearm,” Harris said. “Mr. Brown was struck by the gunfire.
