TikTok Fined $367 Million Over Handling Of Children’s Data Irish authorities have handed TikTok a $367 million fine over its mishandling of childrens’ data. Regulators say the popular social media app would set children’s accounts to public as a default setting – meaning videos, comments, duets, and Stitches could be viewed by anyone. They also found that TikTok’s ‘Family Pairing’ feature, meant to protect kids from online strangers, could be linked to someone who wasn’t a parent or guardian without proper verification. TikTok was also accused of not doing enough to enforce its ban on children under the age of 13 from creating accounts.
