Tiffany Boone has nothing but love for her former The Chi cast mates who are still on the show.
After Boone opened up about leaving the series in February — following the misconduct allegations and subsequent firing of Jason Mitchell, who she alleges sexually harassed her while on the show — Boone says she wants nothing but the best for the rest of the cast.
“I wish them all the luck in the world,” Boone tells ABC Audio. “It’s still a great cast — the people who are still working on it.”
In fact, Boone says she’s rooting for quite a few of her The Chi cast mates, including one rising star.
“I’m especially excited for Birgundi Baker who has been a recurring [character] on the show,” Boone says. “She plays Keisha and now she’s been bumped up to series regular.”
“She’s a fire actress and she’s such a good person,” Boone continues. “So I’m super-excited for her to take on a bigger role with this new season. And I just…wish them well.”
As previously reported, Mitchell was accused of harassing multiple co-stars on The Chi, including Boone, who played Jerrika, the girlfriend of his character, Brandon. The actor was subsequently terminated from the show in May 2019, and was also fired from two upcoming projects in which he was set to star. In addition, he was dropped from his talent agency and his management company.
Season three of The Chi premiere June 21 on Showtime.
