Tank‘s video for his single, “Can’t Let It Show,” starring P-Valley star Brandee Evans, has racked up over 2.2 million YouTube views since its release March 4th.

The R&B singer tells ABC Audio the two have been longtime friends since Evans worked as dancer years ago alongside Tank’s wife, Zena Foster.

“It starts with Brandy and my wife being really good friends. So they used to dance together. They’ve been friends forever, like, really good friends,” says Tank. “Brandy always came by our house…like, Brandee’s family. So when it came time to shoot the video, I was like, ‘I need Brandee.'”

He believed Evans was the only person who could effectively convey the song’s message about women’s empowerment.

“Having a conversation with her and her facial expressions, is just like…everyone can relate to Brandee’s facial expressions. You know exactly what she thinking and what she ’bout to say,” Tank explains.

He explains, “I was like, ‘This song is about women’s empowerment, her taking her power back. And I need a woman, who can tell the story in her face, who can just say it…give it to you raw.’ And I was like, ‘It’s gotta be Brandee. That’s who it’s gotta be.'”

Tank recalls Evans agreeing to do the “Can’t Let It Show” video after he sent her the song and called her on the phone to say, “I need you, I need you. I need you.”

“It was dope that she saw the vision and she was to able to ride along with it,” he adds. “She’s dope for allowing us to to create and use her as a part of that creation.”
