On her 44th birthday, Grammy-nominated singer and TV personality Tamar Braxton hopes for better days.
On Wednesday, Tamar discussed her growth over the past year following her breakup with David Adefeso.
“I really played myself this time last year. We were on lockdown and I remember being so broken because I thought that a celebration of me came from the man I loved. Little did I know he was emotionally cheating,” wrote Tamar on Instagram. “I’m so grateful that my 44th celebration around the sun is filled with those who truly love me. Flaws & all, was here when my face actually hit the pavement.”
Tamar said she was “proud” of herself for picking up the pieces after being left “homeless, heartless, and jobless.” Since then, she said she’s purchased her first home, expanded her business, and “reconnected with some true day ones,” along with launching her podcast, Under Construction.
“I’m so grateful for these people and the patience that they have,” said Tamar, in part, adding, “cause they know I’m #underconstruction.”
2020 was a rollercoaster year, which started with David finding Tamar “unconscious” in their hotel room at the Ritz Carlton in downtown Los Angeles last July. As previously reported, the Braxton Family Values star was later hospitalized and treated at a mental health facility. The couple broke up months later following a domestic dispute.
Tamar also cut ties with WeTV, the same network also behind her reality series, Get Ya Life! During an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show last October, Tamar said never wanted to do the series, which was “supposed to be about life after her divorce” from her ex-husband, VinceHubert, their seven-year-old son, Logan, and her return to music.
