Once upon a time, T-Pain asked Nicki Minaj to collaborate but he ended up getting ghosted.

In a recent interview on the 85 South Showthe “Buy You A Drink” singer recalled a moment in 2007 when he had plans to work with Nicki, who was up-and-coming at the time. However, those plans never went through, leaving him a bit heartbroken.

“We was about to work together and she had stopped responding,” he explained.

T-Pain elaborated that eventually the “Anaconda” rapper did respond, letting him know that she was busy working on her own music. While he admitted that the response wasn’t “malicious,” the shared that he was a little saddened by it.

“It hurt my heart,” he said before jokingly adding, “Maybe I was in love with Nicki Minaj.”

After catching wind of the interview, which was shared by The Shaderoom, Nicki commented, “I don’t remember this AT ALL but it DEF sound like [something] I would say omg what was I thinking?”

“He was already a rlly [sic]  big artist. I was still underground,” she continued. “Chileeeeee I used to b buggin [sic] yo I was under so much pressure to deliver my bad babe, all love.”

“I have nthn [sic] but respect for your talent,” Nicki added, before thanking T-Pain for clearing the vocals for the “Go Hard” sample on her recently rereleased mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty.

“Listening to you over & over on that record taught me [so much] about harmonies & background vocals,” she expressed. “Your vocals on that song alone are GOATED FOR LIFE. I listened to every single detail.”
