A suspect was killed and two people were injured during what authorities say was a carjacking and shooting Tuesday at a Vero Beach Walmart.
A 43-year-old man, who hasn’t been identified, was allegedly shoplifting at Walmart, then tried to steal a car in the parking lot, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said.
An anti-shoplifting team at Walmart called deputies Tuesday night, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy confronted the suspect in the parking lot and at one pointed pulled his taser. The suspect then pulled out a gun and opened fire at the deputy.
Investigators say the suspect shot into one car after attempting to steal it, wounding two people.
