Ella Mai has been in the studio working on her sophomore album, possibly featuring a new collaboration with Ne-Yo.
On Tuesday, Ne-Yo shared a series of photos of the two in the studio on Instagram, with the caption, “The cook up, stay tuned.”
Ella Mai has been low-key for the past few months, since sharing the music video earlier this year for “Don’t Waste My Time,” her collaboration with R&B veteran Usher. But she’s been teasing new music “otw [on the way]” for weeks.
Fans ran to the comments to express their excitement about the R&B pair up. One commenter said, “[This is] a collaboration I’ve been waiting for!” while another wrote, “Something tells me this is gonna be [good].”
Fans have been awaiting the British singer’s return since her self-titled debut album in 2018, which topped Billboard‘s Top R&B Albums chart and featured Ella’s Grammy-winning single, “Boo’d Up.”
Meanwhile, Ne-Yo has written dozens of Grammy-winning hits for himself, as well as for Rihanna, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, N’SYNC and Céline Dion, to name a few.
