St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara tested positive for COVID-19.
The sheriff’s office says Mascara is doing well. He believes he contracted the coronavirus at the Florida Sheriffs Association Summer Conference in Bonita Springs last month.
Mascara took the test on July 31. He’ll be retested on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
St. Lucie County, according to the Florida Department of Health, has more than 6,100 cases of coronavirus with 195 deaths. The numbers are second only to Palm Beach County in the five county area.
