All public access to the beaches on North and South Hutchinson Island in St. Lucie County will be closed for the 4th of July holiday.

The closings will take place Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5.

The county issued the executive to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Beach parking lots in the unincorporated areas and in the city of Fort Pierce will be closed.

Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and Avalon Beach will also closed.

A county spokesman says law enforcement will patrol the barrier islands and give citations to anyone illegally parked in the right-of-way.

This means all South Florida beaches are closed for the holiday weekend. Leaders in Vero Beach voted to restrict the city beaches to residents only.
