“Riviera Beach Church” Running Free Weekly Drive-Thru “Food Distribution”!

To help curb the struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic, a church in Riviera Beach is offering a free drive-thru food drive ever week.

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, about 20 percent of adults with children say they could not adequately feed their families. It’s why churches, like the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church gave away hundreds of pre-packaged, ready to eat free meals.

Bishop Thomas Masters runs the distribution, along with volunteers like Mark Muniz. Every Thursday, starting around 11 a.m., they unload boxes of delivered free meals from Cheney Brothers trucks and hand them to Riviera Beach residents.

“If our brother is hungry, we feed them,” said Bishop Masters. “If our brother is in need, we provide that need. If the church doesn’t do it, then who else is going to do it? We’re just doing what we’re supposed to do.”

Volunteers say the distribution will happen every Thursday morning until they run out of food. They plan to keep it weekly, until further notice.
