Rihanna is taking a stand against Alabama's highly-controversial abortion bill.
On Wednesday, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into state law the nation's most restrictive abortion bill. The new policy now makes it a crime for doctors to perform abortion procedures at any stage in a woman's pregnancy, without exemptions for cases of incest or rape.
Following the news that Ivey had signed the bill into law, Rih took to Instagram to denounce the restrictive policy and to take Governor Ivey to task.
"Take a look," Rih captioned a photo of the male lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill's passage. "These are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America. Governor Kay Ivey...SHAME ON YOU!!!!"
The budding beauty mogul joins the likes of Lady Gaga, Janelle Monáe and Lizzo, who have shared similar sentiments on social media.
"THIS IS REAL & is HAPPENING IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," Monáe tweeted Wednesday night.
"WHY ARE MEN GREAT TILL THEY GOTTA BE GREAT? I'm so disappointed," Lizzo chimed in.
Supporters of the bill hope that if it is challenged legally, the case will go to the Supreme Court, forcing it to reconsider Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision which made abortion legal in the United States.
