Soul singers Queen Naija and Ari Lennox have released a music video for their single “Set Him Up,” which plays off Brandy and Monica‘s 1998 classic, “The Boy Is Mine.”
The video finds Queen and Ari exchanging details about their man on the phone from separate rooms, as Brandy and Monica did. As the conversation continues, both ladies realize they are dating the same man, who likes Tom Ford fragrances and expensive cars.
“He got just got a new whip, G wag light blue, and we made love in it til the sun came through,” sings Ari in a pink-hued room before Queen inquires about the letters on his license plate.
“Do it start with L, and end with an H?” Queen sings from her lavender and and blue room, before Ari follows with, “Yeah, I think it do, girl, what you tryna say? You might be confused, might have seen em’ round the way.”
The two R&B songstresses come together in the end with a plan to “Set Him Up.”
You can find “Set Him Up” on Queen Naija’s new album, Missunderstood…Still, which drops Friday. It’s the deluxe release of her chart-topping debut album, Missunderstood.
Meanwhile, Dreamville signee Ari Lennox is working on her sophomore effort to follow up 2019’s Shea Butter Baby.
