Sauce Money Talks Losing $4 Million Writing Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” Sauce Money sat down for an interview and said he lost $4 million from Diddy’s I’ll Be Missing You. The song generates $730,000 a year. It came out in 1997 so that brings it to $17.5 million. Sauce Money wrote the song and did not receive royalties. He said he didn’t because Diddy put the song out before he cleared the Sting sample, Every Breath You Take. When the song came out Sting was able to get all of the publishing since it was not negotiated on the backend. Sauce Money said, Puff didn’t care because he made money off the physical sales of the album and single. Sauce said he and Diddy worked out a financial agreement in the end so they are all good.
