Publix is donating $1 million to southeast affiliates of the National Urban League to support their civil rights efforts.

The company says the donation is part of its “long-standing support” of the group’s efforts.

The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization that was founded in 1910, according to its website. The league has 90 affiliates across the country, including seven in Florida.

Publix CEO Todd Jones sent a letter to associates saying the company rejects “racism and discrimination of any kind.” The letter was posted under a section titled “Committed to Diversity” on the company’s website.
