A North Palm Beach police officer is on administrative leave after a woman came forward claiming he molested her for years when she was a teenager.

According to a spokesman for the police department, after learning of the allegations against 44-year-old Officer James Kaminski, the department requested an impartial criminal investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to the criminal investigation, an internal affairs investigation is also underway regarding violations of Department policy related to this incident.

The alleged victim, now 24, said it began in 2011 when she was 15 years old.

According to the report, the woman said the molestation continued for several years at Christmas parties, at his apartment in West Palm Beach where he lived, and at her new house in 2018 as she read a bedtime story to a 10-year-old girl.

Weil said 80 percent of sexual abuse is carried out by a person who knows the victim.
