Following a controversy over anti-Semitic remarks made by Nick Cannon that led to the cancelation of his long-running series Wild ‘N Out, MTV’s parent company, ViacomCBS has reestablished it’s working with Cannon, according to Variety.

Production on Wild ‘N Out is expected to resume “at some point beyond the near future,” according to the industry trade.  MTV will air old episodes of the comedy improvisation competition this week.

“Nick has not only apologized and taken responsibility for his comments, but he has also worked to educate himself and others through engagement with Jewish leaders and on his platforms,” an MTV Entertainment Group spokesperson tells Variety.

“Those efforts are of the utmost importance and that’s why we have invited him to rejoin our team.  On a separate note, we just learned that he tested positive for COVID and have reached out to wish him a speedy recovery.”

Cannon has earned praise in recent months from Jewish leaders for partnering with Jewish community organizations against anti-Semitism.

ViacomCBS severed ties with Cannon back in after he received backlash for making comments that were deemed anti-Semitic during a June episode of his podcast and YouTube series Cannon’s Class.  Following the outcry, the 39-year-old issued an apology.

Cannon has remained the host of Fox’s The Masked Singer, set to return for its fifth season in March, though he’ll miss a few episodes after recently testing positive for COVID-19.  Niecy Nash will fill in Cannon in the meantime.

Cannon’s Fox daytime talk show, also delayed for six months following his controversial remarks, is set to premiere in the fall.
