New Music Friday highlights the latest releases in the culture; this Friday is no different. This week’s iteration of the weekly list sees SZA‘s first album in five years, Ari Lennox‘s spin on a Christmas classic and more. Check it out!
SZA, SOS — The follow-up to 2017’s Ctrl is a 23-track project featuring Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, as well as production by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Jay Versace and more. The video for the song “Nobody Gets Me” accompanies the album’s release.
Lucky Daye, Candydrip (Deluxe) — The deluxe version of the Grammy-nominated album features brand new tracks “Magic,” “Apply Pressure,” “These Signs” and an original version of “NWA.”
YG ft. Lil Wayne, “Miss My Dawgs” — YG pays homage to his late friend MC Slim 400 on the new track, which is accompanied by the music video.
Ari Lennox, “My Favorite Things” — The singer put a sultry R&B twist to the Christmas classic just in time for the holiday season.
Moneybagg Yo, “Quickie” — The newly released song and visual see the rapper rhyming over a beat, which features a sample of Lamont Dozier’s “Prelude,” famously used on Outkast’s “Jazzy Belle.”
Ryan Destiny, “How Many” — Originally recorded in 2018, the song sees the multihyphenate discuss her experience “with certain men that kinda just play you when you wanna say, ‘I’m not the one.’”
Desiigner, “Bigger and Bigger” — The New York rapper is ending the year with the song, but his hope is to go “bigger and bigger” in all aspects of his life. “We’re going bigger and bigger in the mind,” he says in a statement. “Leveling up on all our goals. Letting go of a lot of things we were hoarding onto.”
