Last week, the city of Minneapolis agreed to “make transformational changes” to the
city’s police department after it was found that the department failed to hold its officers
accountable for misconduct.
Reportedly, the agreement with Minnesota’s Department of Human Rights was filed in
court to change the department’s culture “by recognizing the humanity and civil rights of
community members, addressing race-based policing, and strengthening public safety.”
The change comes 3 years after the death of George Floyd who was killed by Officer
Derrick Chauvin.
