FORT PIERCE, Fla. —
A memorial and GoFundMe have been created in memory of the 10-year-old girl who died after being hit by a vehicle while getting on a bus in Fort Pierce Thursday morning.
A memorial began to grow along the side of the road where Yaceny Berenice Rodriguez-Gonzalez had her bus stop Thursday evening, a WPBF 25 News crew at the scene discovered.
People began placing stuffed animals, flowers and balloons along the road.
Officials are searching for the driver involved in the hit-and-run. Fort Pierce police said the driver disregarded the flashing lights of the bus and hit Rodriguez-Gonzalez.
The white four-door vehicle was last seen heading north on Oleander Avenue and is expected to have front-end damage.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477.
