West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James will issue a proclamation declaring June as Pride Month in the city, the city said in a release.

The mayor will issue the proclamation at the city commission meeting on June 15.

“West Palm Beach is a city that is diverse in race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression,” Mayor James said. “While our city has long been at the forefront of LGBTQ equality and inclusion in the State of Florida, we must always continue to identify ways to advance in these areas, while recognizing the value of diversity and the worth of each individual in our community.”

In 2018, West Palm Beach became the fifth city in the country to fly the pride flag over City Hall year-round.
