Marcus Garvey, Jr. Lived and Died In Wellington

The Gleaner reported Marcus Garvey Jr. was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, and spent many years following in his father’s footsteps, lecturing through the U.S., Caribbean, Africa and Europe,

He also worked as an electrical engineer.

The elder Garvey, who died in England in 1940, was a Black nationalist who founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and the Back to Africa movement. He believed Black people would never receive justice in predominantly white societies and that Black people should return to Africa.
