A federal corrections officer accused of holding hard-to-get feminine hygiene products over inmates’ heads to sexually abused SEVEN women took a plea deal Wednesday, prosecutors said.
Colin Akparanta, 43, pleaded guilty in March in Manhattan federal court to sexually abusing seven female inmates — after he was hit with a nine-count indictment that accused him of smuggling in contraband to dole out to his victims.
Astonishingly,” Akparanta “was not the only Correctional Officer at MCC who exploited his position of power to prey upon female inmates,” the suit alleged, “And the three women “knew that the existing MCC custom and practices were ineffective in preventing sexual abuse of inmates by Correctional Officers.”
