Lizzo is defending herself after critics took exception to the “Juice” singer for going on a 10-day cleanse and sharing the results to social media on Monday.

Naysayers instantly lambasted the body positive artist for promoting “diet culture” and demanded an apology, to which Lizzo explained that the backlash is exactly why she initially felt “afraid and ashamed” to share the experience in the first place.

“As a big girl, people expect if you are doing something for health, you’re doing it for, like, a dramatic weight loss and that is not the case,” the Grammy winner explained Monday on TikTok, who went onto reveal that she resorted to the cleanse to clean up her digestive system.

“In reality, November stressed me the [heck] out,” continued Lizzo, 32. “I drank a lot, I ate a lot of spicy things and things that [screwed] my stomach up and I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was.”

The Hustlers star added that she is “so proud of myself. I’m proud of my results” because she is sleeping better and noticed a positive change in her hydration, skin, mental health, body and “the whites of my eyes.”

“I feel and look like a bad [chick],” she quipped, who reiterated that she will not apologize for putting her health first. “I’m a big girl who did a smoothie detox and I wanted to share that with you guys.  I got exactly what I wanted out of it.”

She closed out her video by encouraging “every big girl” to do whatever she wants with her body.

When sharing the results of her smoothie cleanse, the singer expressed that she wanted to “reset” her system and stop herself from stress eating, which she says is a form of self-harm.
