Legendary Music Executive, Andre Harrell Dies at 59

Legendary music executive Andre Harrell passed away at the age of 59.

The announcement came late Friday night during DJ D-Nice’s Quarantine DJ set.

Andre had a history of heart problems. He died from heart failure in his West Hollywood, California home.

He was one half of the rap duo Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.

He was the founder of Uptown Records in 1986. He hired an intern who would later go on to become Sean Diddy Combs.

Andre was responsible for the development of the New Jack Swing style that gave the world Guy, Al B. Sure, Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, and many more.
