Kid Cudi makes history with his 37-second song, “Beautiful Trip” — which debuted at the 100th spot on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart, breaking the record for the shortest song ever to appear on the chart.
The track comes from Cudi’s latest album, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, which topped Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart last week.
“Beautiful Trip” is eight seconds shorter than the former record-holder “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)” from viral Japanese star Piko-Taro. It made the Hot 100 list at the #77 spot in 2016.
Other short hit songs that made the Hot 100 chart include Nat King Cole‘s one minute and six second holiday song, “Deck the Halls,” at #47, as well as Beyonce’s 1:19 song, “Forward,” featuring James Blake, which landed at #63 in 2016.
Also in 2016, J. Cole‘s nearly nine-minute hit, “4 Your Eyez Only,” became one of the longest songs on the chart, landing at the #29 spot.
