Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley announced Tuesday that no officers will be criminally charged for shooting Jacob Blake Jr. The incident took place last August, officers were called to a “domestic incident” that afternoon and encountered Blake Jr. As officers called out to Blake Jr., the 29-year-old man walked toward his car as his children sat in the backseat. While Blake Jr. walked away from the officers and began entering his car, officer Rusten Sheskey fired seven shots, leaving him paralyzed. The shooting was caught on camera, and it led to nationwide protests.
In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, Blake Jr. nor Blake Sr. has made a public statement. It is unclear if they will pursue further legal action.
