- Empire actor Jussie Smollett turned himself in to Chicago police early Thursday morning. He was arrested for filing a false police report.
- Smollett told police that he was attacked by two men who hurled racist and homophobic slurs at him. The men also allegedly put a noose around his neck.
- Smollett has gone from accuser to arrested in less than three weeks time. The felony charge against him could put Smollett in jail for 1 to 3 years. He will be in court later today.
- Jussie’s attorneys said in a statement that their client “enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked.”
- Where do you stand now? Do you feel duped because you supported finding the real attackers? Did you think something was not right from the beginning? If he’s found guilty, do you think Smollett will serve any real jail time?
