Juneteenth A New Federal Holiday Celebrated

Emancipation_Day_celebration_-_1900-06-19

The end of slavery was commemorated across the country Saturday with a series of parades, the unveiling of a statue of George Floyd in Brooklyn, and even open-air yoga as Juneteenth as the country’s newest federal holiday.

Local activities include a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new park across from the Historic Sunset Lounge.
