Singers John Legend and D’Angelo are two of the stars that were making rounds at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Legend was seen participating in two in-person events, including Storytellers: John Legend and Mike Jackson, a panel discussion with his Get Lifted Film Co. co-lead Mike Jackson; and the premiere of his HBO’s Legend of the Underground, a documentary that centers on rampant discrimination in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Legend’s fellow vocalist D’Angelo took the stage with Rhiannon Giddens and preformed songs from the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack. Thursday’s night’s show marked the first live show in New York City to showcase tracks from the soundtrack, along with the first time ever that D’Angelo joined Daniel Lanois and Giddens together to perform those songs live.

In other news, Sanaa Lathan is set to make her feature directorial debut with an adaptation of Angie Thomas’ New York Times bestseller On the Come Up, Deadline has learned. The film follows 16-year-old Bri, who hopes to become one of the greatest rappers of all time. However, she soon finds herself at the center of a controversy after her song goes viral, making her rethink her career path.  A release date for On the Come Up has yet to be announced.

Finally, Deon Cole is joining Tiffany Haddish as co-host of TBS’ Friday Night Vibesa year-long celebration of feel-good comedies, action-packed blockbusters and culturally significant films. The first episode, which kicks off on Friday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET, will include Snoop Dogg as the first featured guest. The show will also broadcast a double feature every week and include featured guests, celebrity interviews and performances. The premiere episode will also celebrate Father’s Day and honor the upcoming Juneteenth holiday.
