Jekalyn Carr, alongside gospel legend Tye Tribbett, will host the 36th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards Sunday night, which was pre-recorded at the elegant Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 23-year-old, who received four nominations, including Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year, says she’s grateful to be a part of “the Greatest Night in Gospel Music.”

“It feels great. Ever since I can remember growing up listening to gospel music, a lot of artists such as Tamela Mann and so many others I’ve listened to, and I never would have thought I’d be on the same stage or even coming to cross paths with them when I first started out,”  Carr tells ABC Audio. “But to God be the glory.”

She added that, “I’ve always wanted to inspire people, give people hope to my music, and I’ve always wanted to have substance with my music. I tell people all the time, if you have substance, you have longevity. So I’m grateful to be a part of it.”(AUDIO IS ABC 1-ON-1)

Carr also received a nomination for Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year, alongside Kierra Sheard, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, CeCe Winans and Naomi Raine. She previously won the award in 2019.

For her contribution, Tamela Mann will join Yolanda Adams and Avery Sunshine during a tribute performance for Gospel Hall of Famer Lady Tramaine Hawkins, who was honored with the Aretha Franklin Icon Award presented by Toyota.

Watch the 36th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Sunday, August 1 at 8 p.m. ET on BET, followed by an encore presentation at 10 p.m.
