Jeezy and Jeannie Mai should be enjoying their honeymoon, but instead, the two are pooling their resources to bring smiles to inner-city children.
The couple, in conjunction with Jeezy’s Street Dreamz Foundation, partnered with the The Tony Robbins Foundation over the weekend to purchase over 1,000 bicycles for Atlanta’s youth.
The charitable effort, dubbed Wheels of Dreamz, matched children with their bicycles at an event held at Clark Atlanta University.
The event was preceded by speeches made by the four-time Grammy nominee as well as Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
In Jeezy’s speech, the rapper expressed the importance for “empathy” and reflected on how much he relied on his bicycle growing up.
“The only time I felt free was when I was in motion,” said the 43-year-old, who also touched upon how riding his bike allowed him to dream of achieving bigger things. “That’s your chance to see where you want to go in life because if you stay still, that’s where you’ll stay.”
Continued Jeezy, “If you’ve got a vision, you can achieve it. Just like you can ride from one street to the next, you can do that with life, too… I want each and every one of you to stay in motion with those bikes.”
Following the event, Mai described in an Instagram post that she was “Honored to witness the look of pure joy in these kids.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum reflected on receiving her first bike when she was seven, adding, “We only had enough money for one, so I had to share it by riding my lil brother on the handlebars.”
Despite having to share her ride, Mai said her bicycle left a lasting impact, adding, “I never feel more free than racing the wind with my will.”
