After six long years, Jazmine Sullivan dropped her most recent album, Heaux Talesin January. Now, the R&B diva has returned with her new single, “Tragic.”

Dutch singer/songwriter Leven Kahli produced the song, which samples Congresswoman Maxine Waters and her viral catchphrase “reclaiming my time.” Instead of reclaiming her time at a congressional hearing, Sullivan reclaims her time after an uneventful evening in the bedroom with a man.

“Who was lying when they told you you was all that? /And we had it /Just another good laugh in our group chat (Just another, just another) /Reclaim, reclaim, reclaim, reclaimin’ my time,” Sullivan sings.

“Tragic” could land Jazmine Sullivan her second number-one on Billboard‘s Adult R&B Airplay song chart after “Pick Up Your Feelings” topped the list in March.

This Sunday, the Heaux Tales singer will put her vocals on display at the 2021 BET Awards. She is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
