Jay-Z, Mary J. BligeLL Cool JTina Turner, and Chaka Khan are among the 16 entertainers nominated for induction into the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

To be eligible for the high honor, each artist must have released their first commercial recording 25 years before the year of their nomination. Induction is also based upon on their “musical influence on other artists.”

Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige — whom fans deem the Queen of hip hip soul music — are among the first-time nominees this year.  They are joined by music icon and viral Twitter star, Dionne Warwick, who has also been nominated.

Tina could become the second female artist to be inducted twice, following Stevie Nicks’ 2019 election as a solo artist and with rock band, Fleetwood Mac. Tina became a Rock Hall member in 1991 as half of Ike & Tina Turner.

Chaka Khan landed her seventh nomination, after being nominated last year. In total, she has received four nods with her former group, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan and two as a solo artist.

For LL, this will be the legendary rapper’s fifth nomination after being snubbed four times in the past decade.

Other nominees include Carole King and Fela Kuti, the Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer and political activist, whose life and music were portrayed in the popular Broadway musical, Fela!

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 Induction Ceremony will take place in Cleveland, Ohio this fall. Details and ticket information will be announced at a later time.

Starting Wednesday through April 30, fans will able to vote for their favorite nominees at RockHall.com.
