People protesting the death of George Floyd, who died while in police custody in Minneapolis, are set to make their way from West Palm Beach to Palm Beach on Saturday afternoon.
The protesters are set to meet at 2 p.m. at Dreher Park at the Southern Boulevard entrance and then make their way to the island of Palm Beach, where President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago is.
This event is one of hundreds planned across the U.S. as calls for ending police brutality have sparked large gatherings of protesters, despite warnings from health experts about coronavirus concerns. Some of those protests have turned violent and deadly, including one last weekend in West Palm Beach.
The Town of Palm Beach Police says it is monitoring and preparing for three planned demonstrations that could possibly impact the town.
