Palm Beach County is kicking off a new program to help people put food on the table.
The county has received $5 million in CARES Act money (Coronvirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security).
Eligible residents who experienced a loss of income as a direct result of COVID-19 can receive a pre-paid debit card of up to $1000 that can be used to purchase groceries.
Assistant County Administrator Nancy Bolton says they estimate that about 7,000 individuals may qualify for this one-time benefit assistance.
People we spoke with who were picking up food at a food pantry in Lake Worth Beach said they would apply for this, and they are thrilled to hear that this type of help is available.
