“Federal Unemployment Payments” Expire This Weekend.

Federal unemployment payments in Florida and across the country are set to expire this weekend.

In Florida, the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) programs, which extended aid to eligible Floridians who exhausted their benefits, expire this weekend.

The state had already cut off the weekly $300 unemployment payments, or Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), in late June. Those payments were originally set to expire this weekend as well as part of the state’s “Return to Work” initiative.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity says starting Labor Day, people have 30 more days to apply for all of their remaining PUA and PEUC claims.

The agency also says it is working to make sure all eligible claimants receive any missing federal payments as soon as possible.
