On Friday, November 13, 2020, Tree of Life Resource Center, one of Tree of Life Foundation International’s twenty-two branches and Schumacher Automotive Group (schumacherauto.com ) are continuing efforts to feed the community by hosting their monthly Drive-Thru Community Food Distribution event with venue partner, Palm Beach Outlets (PalmBeachOutlets.com) from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
In celebration of Thanksgiving, a special Thanksgiving Meal Package, including a fresh turkey, will be distributed in addition to the usual box of fresh produce, dairy and protein from Farm Share.
The event gate is located on Congress Avenue where volunteers from Schumacher Auto Group, Tree of Life Foundation International, Keiser University athletes including the softball, golf, lacrosse and cheer teams, along with local officers will assist in the distribution of items on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, to include produce, non-perishable foods and dairy for 500 families.
All vehicles will enter through the gate located on Congress Avenue where the organizations’ staff and volunteers, along with local officers, will assist in the distribution of items on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, for 500 families.
Amanda Schumacher, President and Founder of Tree of Life Foundation International shared, “The holidays can be especially difficult for our community this year. We are here to help and we hope that this Thanksgiving meal brings everyone joy and hope for brighter days ahead. Since we opened our center doors, we have distributed over 1000,000 pounds of food and we are grateful for our collaborative partners on this November event; Schumacher Automotive Group, Farm Share, Keiser University Seahawks, Dedicated Senior Medical Center Palm Beach Outlets.”
The grass roots effort was launched internally at Schumacher Automotive Group in March when the family-owned and operated fifty-year old company had to face difficult decisions to furlough employees due to COVID19’s unpredictable impact on the economy. At that time, Charles Schumacher, President, and Amanda Schumacher, Vice President, reached out to their employees at their over twelve showrooms and various administrative departments at the family of dealerships to start a food collection that was turned into a food pantry in a suite in the Tree of Life Plaza in West Palm Beach where any employee in need could receive essentials. The food pantry suite quickly turned into the Tree of Life Resource Center.
After providing non-perishable food items plus hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies and paper products to employees, the Tree of Life Resource Center opened its doors to the community and also took their critical resources out into the community with massive food distribution events offering non-perishables, plus fresh produce, meat and dairy.
To adhere to the COVID-19 CDC guidelines for health and safety, all volunteers will wear gloves and masks and the attendees must remain in their vehicles and open their trunks when it is their turn in line to receive items.
For those interested, Palm Beach Atlantic University’s School of Pharmacy will be at the event doing socially distanced well-checks for those waiting in their cars before the distribution begins.
There is a limit of 1 (one) Thanksgiving Meal Package per vehicle.
