DJ Erick Morillo, best known for his 1993 song “I Like to Move It,” recorded under the name Reel 2 Real, was found dead on Tuesday. He was 49.
The story was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by Morillo’s family, who tell People magazine, “He was well-loved by his family and he had a lot of love to give.”
Morillo’s body was found Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, according to police sources in an email to People on Tuesday.
The circumstances surrounding the award-winning Colombian DJ and producer’s death are sill not clear, but the Miami Beach PD tells TMZ there were no apparent signs of foul play, and Morillo’s cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The news comes a few weeks after Morillo was arrested in Miami on sexual battery charges, according to TMZ.
The alleged victim claims they went to his place after both were finished DJing. The woman claims she resisted his sexual advances and went to sleep at his place, but woke up nude, with Morillo — also nude — standing next to her.
Morillo turned himself in on August 6.
