SOUTH FLORIDA SUNDAYS WITH BISHOP MASTERS

Reverend Dr. JR Thicklin, president of the Palm Beach County Clergy Alliance, discuss the group’s ongoing initiatives. On Sunday, June 28, the alliance held a march for clergy and parishioners throughout the county from Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on Third Street to the Palm Beach County Courthouse. It is meant to dismantle racism and bring about justice regarding inequalities.

They will address the issue of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office not having bodycams, and calling for chokeholds to be banned. In addition, the group will call for a meeting of the minds, with a focus on honesty, accountability, and real change.

The next segment features Antoine Miller, who serves as the director and CEO of Sounds of Success Community Marching Band. It is based in Riviera Beach and was founded in February 2018 to provide the community with something positive in which to engage. The organization accepts participants from middle school age through adulthood. Mayor Felder and the FAMU Palm Beach Alumni Chapter are recognized as supporters of the SOS Community Marching Band, as are the parents for their part in creating an inclusive, family atmosphere.

Rehearsals and performances have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, although fundraising efforts continue.
