Just days before Christmas, Michelle Williams is left mourning the loss of her father, Dennis Williams.
On Sunday, the former Destiny’s Child singer shared the news on Instagram, along with a photo of her 68-year-old dad.
“I just don’t know what to say or where to start. Daddy, you fought harder than those of us that are in good health. For 15 years, you FOUGHT!!! You truly outlived moments where we thought you wouldn’t make it!” wrote Williams.
She said her mother, Anita Williams, sang to him the night before where he “looked so content and had a look of peace in [his] eyes.”
“You weren’t in any pain either. The Lord took you in his arms this morning and I’m so thankful that you are resting in Him! I love you Daddy!,” Michelle concluded, sharing her father’s lifespan: Nov 13, 1952-Dec 20, 2020.
Williams received tons of supporting messages and prayer emojis in the comments from the likes of Tamar Braxton, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts, Lecrae, Yvonne Orji, Jermaine Dupri and more, including Beyoncé‘s mother, Tina Lawson.
“My Belle, I am so sorry !!! Your dad was a true warrior,” wrote Lawson. “Yes He is resting now and is with your beloved granny. I am so glad we had the time together in Hawaii, and that we talked for an hour last night we love you so much.”
A day before, Williams announced the launch of her podcast, Checking In with Michelle Williams, which was selected as one of Oprah Magazine’s Most Anticipated Podcasts of 2021. On the podcast, Williams will interview her celebrity friends about managing their “mental health hardships and even offer coping strategies for emotional well-being.”
