In the nation’s nearly 250 year history, Independence Day will be spent socially distant for the first time.

As a result of the threat of COVID-19, beaches around the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast are either closed or reserved to just local residents. Big fireworks displays and events, like 4th on Flagler on West Palm Beach’s waterfront, are now canceled. The city, however, is still planning to shoot fireworks from two undisclosed locations. It’s their attempt to keep the spirit of the 4th alive, while also preventing crowds from gathering.
