What is Daylight Saving Time and is it necessary? That’s the question many people around the globe are wondering as they prepare to change their clocks and their sleep schedules. It turns out the practice of shifting societal schedules in order to utilized more daylight throughout the year started as a way to reduce demand on resources like candles and coal. Today, some argue Daylight Saving Time helps reduce energy, but does it really? What’s the real reason for losing or gaining that extra hour of sleep?
