“Daunte Wright’s” Funeral Being Held In Minneapolis.

The funeral for Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man fatally shot by a Brooklyn Center police officer during a traffic stop, was held at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Reverend Al Sharpton gave a eulogy at the funeral.

Kim Potter, the White former officer who shot him, was charged with second-degree manslaughter. Police had pulled Wright over for driving with expired tags and discovered he also had an outstanding warrant. While officers attempted to handcuff Wright, he allegedly jumped into his car. Potter thought she had grabbed her Taser, but instead pulled out her pistol and shot Wright, former Brooklyn Center police chief Tim Gannon said.

Both Potter and Gannon resigned after the fatal shooting.
