With an impressive 12 nominations, “Rockstar” DaBaby leads this year’s nominees for the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards. The North Carolina rapper makes history as the first artist with two entries for Best Hip Hop Album of the Year, for Kirk and Blame It On Baby.
Following his win for “Best Male Hip Hop Artist” at the BET Awards earlier this year, Dababy also landed nominations for Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, and Impact Track for the BLM remix to his #1 hit record, “Rockstar,” featuring Roddy Ricch.
Roddy follows DaBaby, with 11 nods, including two for his Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial cut “The Box.” Meanwhile, Megan the Stallion and Drake both secured eight nominations in a few of the same categories, including Hip Hop Artist of the Year.
Other notable nominations include Teyana “Spike Tee” Taylor for Video Director of the Year, Hit-Boyfor Producer of the Year, and “WAP” rapper Cardi B for Hustler of the Year.
Lil Baby received four nods for Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Hip Hop Album of the Year for My Turn, and two nominations for his protest anthem, “The Bigger Picture.” Slime & B duo Chris Brown and Young Thug are up against City Girls, Migos, and more for Best Duo or Group.
From the XXL Freshmen class of 2020, Mulatto, Jack Harlow, NLE Choppa and Rod Wave are nominated for Best New Hip Hop Artist, as well as late rapper Pop Smoke and rising Alabama rapper Flo Milli.
